Moving

Hello everyone. I'm moving to this new url: artofdaphy.blogspot.com

Reason why?

Well, I've kept this blog for about five years now, since 2006. And it's been such a long journey of clusters of thoughts and emotions and expressions of my many different years that I kinda feel lost here. Which might also be why I stopped blogging for so long. It's like, I don't know what to blog about anymore. Somehow, I often feel unsure about what to post or whether certain posts are appropriate or not here and blablablasolazytoexplain... So, Imma clean all this mess up and start anew in the new blog. Time to "put your behind in your past" said Pumba.

Expect the new blog to be much simpler. More pictures, photos, maybe some words. Opening up some creative space there to motivate myself to start some new art projects.

Still leaving this blog here for us all to look back at the earlier days haha. But will not post here anymore (i think).

See you all there!

Supa awesome favorite products of 1/3 of 2011

Hello all! As you can see I've been aways since, forever! Oh well, shows that I have a life outside of my laptop and the web world (kidding, but seriously, I do. wtf)
Anyway! Enjoying every bit of my final semester in uni, at the same time, can't wait to graduate and start making some of my own money! :D

Okay, today's post is simple. Here are a few of my favorite products of the first third of 2011 lol.

Remember some time ago I said I bought this supa awesome mascara?

Yeah, Majolica Majorca's supa awesome mascara. Okay that's  not the real name, but it works great for me. Lasts the whole day on oily lids bla bla bla. Using a second tube already!
So since it was sooo awesome and waterproof, I decided to try another item of Majolica Majorca's hoping that the formula is as awesome as the mascara's.

Behold. The other supa awesome product of Majolica Majorca

The Majolica Majorca Perfect Automatic Liquid Eyeliner!!!!!!!!!! MMPALE. Mouth-full :S

I got mine in black! I have to say it works really really well on my oily skin. I mean, it lasts me more than 12 hours a day! The colour stays, doesn't smudge AT ALL (because of it's formula I guess, it dries up. So if it comes off, it flakes instead of smudge). No problem with the colour.
But! You may have to experiment with how many rounds you wanna turn the eyeliner's interesting liquid dispensing mechanism (you'll know when you buy it). For me, 2 rounds is enough for an eye! :D So there you go, supa-awesome-long-lasting-liquid-eyeliner!

Next, is a product that I have been using for a few months now and absolutely love. Talked about this product here last year before but still loving it so here it comes again! The perfect affordable, quality liquid foundation for a person who has limited disposable income! :D

The Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation!

After trying different colors (Warm Golden, Nude, Sand Beige), I settled for 180 Sand Beige. It's the best color for meee. The others are a little bit darker and too warm/dark, but doesn't look all that bad on camera.
This foundation's color really STAYs. Lasts me throughout the day without touch-ups. Doesn't transfer, doesn't flow off with your facial oil. I don't even use any powder over it or primer below. It also has very very good coverage. Good stuff for a drugstore brand!

That's basically the few things I use all the time apart from skin care. I'm so happy to have found such good products after years of experimenting. *loyal

Am so tempted to go for Lancome's new compact powder:

Lancome Maqui Miracle

Seen some pretty nice reviews bout it and it's long-lasting qualities.

Do let me know if it's "supa-awesome". teehee

Ohhhh, who's going to this weekend's Flip Flop Beach Carnival? Seeee you thereee!

p/s: sorry if my "supa-awesome"s annoyed ya :p & 3/4 pics from Google Images.

lol.

splat*

Hello! Sorry for my absence. Why is it most of us loose motivation to blog at some point in life? But thank you guys whoever you may be for occasionally dropping by, keeping up the feed :D

Classes has started, time passed really fast and we're entering week 3. Suddenly CGPAs don't seem that important anymore when I start thinking about working life. Stressed just thinking about it. "What kinda job will I end up with?" I keep asking myself. After that I tell myself, "don't worry, if you don't like it you can always just get experience there and look for another job". Think I've found the answer but the questions still continue. Hate uncertainty. :S

Yawn! Back to watching movies. I'm a real movie freak. Movies are my favorite pass time recently. I can just tune into any movie channel on Astro and watch any movie that's on air. I watch old dvds. I watch some movies on ch131.com. I HAVE to watch high rating movies in the cinemas. I MAKE the bf watch movies with me and he HAS to pay attention while watching or else it would annoy me wtf. oh movies~ how you entertain me.

Ok gtg thxbai

Digital paint

Hello all! It's been a while! This was the picture I was supposed to finish by the end of Chinese New Year but, friends and holidays distracted me, hence, I just finished it today.

My first finished (sorta) painting done with my laptop, Bamboo tablet, mouse, and Corel Paintshop Pro X. It's a bit rough at the clothes and the hair and background part because I got lazy :( But I'll do better next time. heh.

Was inspired to draw this by Michelle Phan. I looked through her pictures in her Facebook fan page and saw her digital paintings. I was like, OMG she's so good at that, looks so realistic! So, I knew I had to try it! And it's surprisingly easier to paint faces on the computer than on paper because well, you can use editing tools, color, lighting, lightening, darkening, smudging effects to edit pictures to near perfection. But control wise, I think using a pencil is definitely easier. Maybe I should combine them.. draw with pencil, paint with computer.. hmm.. :D

Recognize the face? Haha, used her face as well. Though it doesn't look like her, she was a good model to use. Awesome makeup and perfect smile. Yeap, I'm a big fan.

Classes have started so, going to bed now. Till  next time I'm free enough, I'll do another :D Wait for it!

xoxo

Wabbit yeah

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!

Doing a CNY kinda portrait drawing but not totally done with it yet. Anyway, may everyone have a healthy and prosperous new year! May the rabbit be gentle on us :D

My first week of CNY nails.

Nah, a pic of me and my not so new dress and curls again! But not very used to curls nemore. Feel a bit too mature with them. But they still go better with dresses. My bangs are overgrown, but thank goodness to this video, I learned to style them! :D

Till I update the drawing, Happy CNY again! :D

Mini big heads

Been browsing through Facebook and my friends, and stumbled back on one of my dad's friend's page where he posted his art work. Mostly caricatures of his friends. He drew my dad and it looked so amusing! Hence, I was inspired to try it! But I don't know anything bout such type of drawings. So, I Google-ed it, as I would always do with anything I don't know about. Haha. Wiki said caricatures were something about exaggerated drawings of particular features that would make the picture recognizable or something like that.
So, attempted on someone whom I know would not get mad at me for using his face :p

This is after I edited it. I somehow think the first version (which I uploaded in Facebook) looks more like him. His reaction was simple, "LOL"s and "omg"s. Which made me literally laugh out loud alone in my room, in front of my laptop at 4am. >_<.

2nd attempt of one of my favorite girl friends! Haha! A cute and sweet girl. Whose most-often-said line is, "My hair grew longer!!!... right?" LOL.

Will try more daring ones in the future. For now, Chinese New Year preparations!!! I've loads of cleaning to do for my room which might take a few days. And the collected dust is unbearable! Need to use face mask while cleaning. Lol. Oh darn, not done with New Year shopping, actually, barely started. :S

Have fun preparing! See ya'll soon.

:s

I wouldn't said I worried for nothing. It was something. I couldn't sleep. Woke up after every 3 hours. When the time came. I couldn't bare to check. But it had to be done anyway. The pressure, the stress all pressed into my mind, spinning it violently. My heart beat increased, without knowing whether it could handle what would come after, as I waited for the page to load on my iPhone (yeah, was still lying in bed).

Poof! The relief that swept over me! All I wanted to do was to Thank God!

Now, I can sleep in peace.

Yeah, passed the papers. :D

Attempt #2 Tried to draw the bf, failed below the eyes T_T

Attempt #3 The bf again, but looks more like the side view of attempt #2

Attempt #4 Bacon with eggs are my fav way to have fried eggs!

Not really an attempt cos done this before

Attempt #5 Broccoli Chicken! Success!

Attempt #6 Ginger chicken! Success too! Just that, didn't use dark soya sauce so looks light.

Ah, what a fulfilling week :D Been exercising too! Muscles kinda sore. *proud of self* :p

RESULTS out TOMORROW! Why do I keep reminding myself T_____T

~ horeedaes randomness

What if we had four seasons? :S I would need a four sectioned closet, each section would be labeled "Spring", "Summer", "Autumn" and "Winter". :D~

That was totally random. Chinese New Year is two weeks away so all I can think about is shopping. teehee. Even in my sleep, I dream about it, even sleep talk about it! buaahaha. I'm quite glad that's the main thing on my mind (apart from the bf of course :P), atleast I could distract myself from 21 January, which is like TOMORROW =O!! *fear* Godhelpmeplease.

Yeap, RESULTS. Never had I feared so much for them. Last year was really ughhh. I have a loong list of things to do on Friday. However the day will turn out will depend on how well I did T_T. But one things for sure. The night will be spent with alcohol. Either to celebrate, or mourn T_T

Good luck to everyone

I already drew a plan/design of my new built in cupboard that I gave my dad already to give to the contractor who's gonna make it! lol. It's gonna be the biggest closet in the house! MUAHHAHAHAAA.. Sadly, it'll only be done after Chinese New Year, but who cares? I'm so gonna get it this year!!!!!!!!! muahahahahahhahahahahahahhahaa!!!!! Happy!

Oh, and I've been loving and enjoying all those holiday tour pictures my dear friends have been so kind to share on them social networks! I love to see all the places you all go and all the things you do and all the people you have fun with! I can feel your joy! So nice to see everything so unfamiliar! I love Facebook, Blogs and Twitter lol.

Apart from that (also maybe caused from that), I really can't wait to get out of Kuching maaaaaan. Can't wait to go on the coming trip :D Dream about it everyday omg *dreams again*. It's a shopping trip to be exact! After CNY tho. I know it's weird to go shopping after CNY but, after CNY only got money to spend mar T_T Buy new attire for my final semester of my studying life which can also be considered new year hehe! Gosh, maybe I have to consider getting some working clothes since Imma be working for the next half of the year if all things go well.

Which reminds me once again that results are out next Friday. Gosh the anxiety. *pray pray pray* Good Luck to ME ME ME ME and ME!... oh, and you too of course. heh.

My first stir-fry experience

Throughout 21 years of my life, I have learnt to cook instant noodles, rice, vegetable soup, spaghetti bolognaise and carbonara, fry eggs with bacon, and er, bake with Sharon once, and used to occasionally help my aunt bake cakes. It isn't much because I never really bothered or had the need to cook, until recently. Lol.

I have wasted much time this holiday and am sort of saving for a bigger cause :p, so, I was finally desperate enough, to stir-fry my own brunch today! The beginning was: oh man, the middle was: oh no oh no, and the ending was actually not too bad. Haha.

Note: I was all on my own with no supervision whatsoever, and NO RECIPE, equipped with only the few cooking theories I have learnt:
1. Hot oil in contact with water POPs
2. Use small flame to cook meat and eggs to get to the insides, also avoids burning the outer layer
3. Fry onions in oil first
4. I think you have to heat the pan first

I decided to do a Chicken-Corn-Mushroom Combo, because I like all three >_<. Absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into.

The start:
Had hell of a time chopping the chicken. No idea how to get through the bones. But managed in the end, not too bad I must say. Though, I should have just used the breast meat and leave the wing and drumstick alone >_<.
Prepared garlic
Couldn't find onions
Salt
Water
Corn
Button Mushrooms

It was time to light the fire, heat up the wok, and put some oil in. But when I did that, the oil left a big black mark on the wok. I got nervous and off the fire. Thinking whether I should continue after that. swt.

After much thinking and consideration, since all the ingredients had been prepared, I decided to try again, and thought that, maybe the wok was too hot HAHA. I cleaned the wok and dried it and started the fire again. This time I told myself, I'm just gonna go all the way! Fingers crossed to whatever the dish will turn out to be. As long as it's not burnt, it's edible. lol.

So I poured in the oil right after starting the fire, phew! No black stain.
I threw in the garlic and ginger and fried it for a while, turned the flame smaller and waited a bit.
Okay, I think I smell the garlic and ginger... looks hot, hmmm..
Okay, seems like time...
I threw in the chicken pieces..
Looked dry, fear it would burn, so, added water, hoping it wouldn't splat.
To my delight, it did not :D.. It was then that I remembered the dishes mum used to cook were a bit starchy, so I threw in some corn flour lol.
Stir fried, added some salt.. waited a bit..
[The whole process sounded like I had everything under control. But while I was doing it, I was nervous, doing each next thing as it pops into my head, one after another >_<.]

The chicken seemed to turn white already, I had no idea how long I had to wait, so, after a few more minutes, I took a piece out, used two forks and spread it apart to see the inside. Oh, not cooked.. Put back in, fry more..  After repeating the process a couple more times, I threw in the corn and mushrooms. :D

After a few more minutes, I decided it was done. :D

Put the Chicken-Corn-Mushroom Combo on 2 plates. It looked, not so nice. >_<. And I ran out of spring onions, so, no nice greenish deco.

I took my first bite, to my surprise, it tasted just right! Wasn't tasteless, wasn't salty!! :D Proud of it, I ate a breast meat cube.. Wow! Tasty!!! It had just the right amount of garlic taste I wanted :D

Just as I was beginning to feel proud of myself, I took a bite out of a bigger piece of the chicken: the drumstick which I didn't manage to chop into smaller pieces. It was still reddish inside and the meat still slightly pale-ish. T_T. Whyyyyyyyyyyyy.....

Oh oh, before the bf ate it, I put it in the left overs in the microwave, and everything turned out perfect again! no reddish meat inside! :D and he said it was not bad :D

Hence, that was my first stir-frying experience. I must be talented in cooking LOL

See, not bad right? ^^

:D

Ah~ nothing like a lazy everyday, doing absolutely nothing! Okay, not nothing, there's the occasional artsy stuff, tv shows, movies and lim-teh sessions, but having no pressure and commitments whatsoever is just blissssss =)

Can't wait for the end of next week tho! Then I can do something more productive like, shopping! >_<. And then friends returning, and then Chinese New Year, and then MORE SHOPPING and then School. T_T.

I'm so happy!!! So much to look forward to :D

You know, if you really cared about something, you'd ask personally instead of in front of the whole world. Not answering personal questions in public. Thank you.

Needs

Been watching 90210 for days now. Finished one and a half seasons already. Now, just gotta wait a few more months till they start continuing these American tv shows. The pain. T_T I need more Gossip Girl, Glee, 90210, Vampire Diaries!

Perhaps I'll re-watch Gossip Girl and sketch some more.

Sketched while watching 90210 lol. Sketching nice clothes feels somewhat like window shopping. Can see but can't touch. lol

As you can probably tell, I'm getting a little bit bored. Didn't bother to look for a job anymore because I only have about a month of holidays left. Since I've finished watching all the seasons of my favorite tv shows, it's time to dig out some old treasures and show them some love.

I've finally decided to open my beautiful "shoe box".

Starting with this book: "Everyone worth Knowing". Because I've watched the Devil wears Prada movie already and read Chasing Harry Winston a few years back.

Hope everyone's enjoying their holidays. :)

Coincidences

haha cute. [Picture from Google]

Seems to be happening a lot to me lately. Especially to particular songs I happen to listen to and particular blog posts I happen to read. I mean, they just so happen to be there at the right time and take the words right out of my mouth (or brain). Scary, but nonetheless useful.

1.1.11

Happy 2011 everyone! I hope you all had a great celebration last night.

2011 is here, and even though it was only a few hours away from last year, and that another year is just another number, it still feels like something new, a new 'time', a fresh day, another chance, a starting line. I still feel pretty drained from the past year, but I'm so gonna inject myself with optimism, and prepare myself for the best/worst.

Looking back 2 years ago, everything was different. I too feel very very different. How I'd like to stay back there, be forever young and innocent. But without getting here, maybe, I wouldn't know how to appreciate everything that much now no? Never mind

Anyway,  I found out I made resolutions on the eve of 2009! Completed half of them by 2010, then completely neglected everything throughout 2010.

So Imma keep track of those 10 resolutions, and hopefully, manage to complete them and be my ideal self. hahaha. :)

Oh, here are some of my holiday nails. :)

Christmas nails which I ruined on Christmas eve >_<.

Till next time xoxo
