Supa awesome favorite products of 1/3 of 2011

Hello all! As you can see I've been aways since, forever! Oh well, shows that I have a life outside of my laptop and the web world (kidding, but seriously, I do. wtf) 

Anyway! Enjoying every bit of my final semester in uni, at the same time, can't wait to graduate and start making some of my own money! :D

Okay, today's post is simple. Here are a few of my favorite products of the first third of 2011 lol.

Remember some time ago I said I bought this supa awesome mascara?

Yeah, Majolica Majorca's supa awesome mascara. Okay that's  not the real name, but it works great for me. Lasts the whole day on oily lids bla bla bla. Using a second tube already! 

So since it was sooo awesome and waterproof, I decided to try another item of Majolica Majorca's hoping that the formula is as awesome as the mascara's.

The Majolica Majorca Perfect Automatic Liquid Eyeliner!!!!!!!!!! MMPALE. Mouth-full :S

I got mine in black! I have to say it works really really well on my oily skin. I mean, it lasts me more than 12 hours a day! The colour stays, doesn't smudge AT ALL (because of it's formula I guess, it dries up. So if it comes off, it flakes instead of smudge). No problem with the colour. 

But! You may have to experiment with how many rounds you wanna turn the eyeliner's interesting liquid dispensing mechanism (you'll know when you buy it). For me, 2 rounds is enough for an eye! :D So there you go, supa-awesome-long-lasting-liquid-eyeliner!

Next, is a product that I have been using for a few months now and absolutely love. Talked about this product here last year before but still loving it so here it comes again! The perfect affordable, quality liquid foundation for a person who has limited disposable income! :D

The Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation!

After trying different colors (Warm Golden, Nude, Sand Beige), I settled for 180 Sand Beige. It's the best color for meee. The others are a little bit darker and too warm/dark, but doesn't look all that bad on camera.

This foundation's color really STAYs. Lasts me throughout the day without touch-ups. Doesn't transfer, doesn't flow off with your facial oil. I don't even use any powder over it or primer below. It also has very very good coverage. Good stuff for a drugstore brand!

That's basically the few things I use all the time apart from skin care. I'm so happy to have found such good products after years of experimenting. *loyal

Am so tempted to go for Lancome's new compact powder:

Lancome Maqui Miracle

Seen some pretty nice reviews bout it and it's long-lasting qualities.

Heart Sales!!

Helloooo! Here's a short post on some shopping goodies! :p

Walked around Spring quite a few times this week and stumbled upon several good deals :D

We all know the end of season sales had been going on for sometime now but I didn't expect Charles and Keith to be on sale too! Until the day before yesterday when I was walking around Spring with Aggy and Elaine that I felt the urge to show Elaine the pair of heels I wanted so bad for months now from Charles and Keith which costed RM165 smthn D:

But to my surprise! All the shoes were on sale. And my heels were 70% off! omfg-joy-to-the-world-heaven-fell-upon-me. Howeverrr the pair I wanted was out of size! /dark-clouds-shadowed. Butttt, there was a slightly similar pair, which had a more blunter tip than the one that I originally wanted... The design is a slightly similar due to the Oxford ties on the top, so, BUY!!! RM47+ only. Such a good buy, so happy with myself and the patience I had for months now wtf

:D For casual and formal. Oh the feeling of getting new shoes, so delightful, self fulfilling, dream come true and everything, So happy. muahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaaa >_<.

Oh ya, the flats in C&K however does not have such awesome discounts I wonder why. The brown strappy studded flats I got beginning of the year is still above RM100 :(((

Anyway, other stuff

Just tried this out. Nature Republic's Black Head Scavenger Oil Peeling Gel. Yeah, its this oil based gel that you rub on your blackheads every few times a week. it's supposed to slowly dissolve and pull out your skin's impurities. I think it's not too bad, shall wait for the results in a few more weeks, but I was very successful with the pore pack yesterday after using this. :D It's on 20% discount now, good time to try it out cos it's only close to RM40 now :D

2 Lovely nail colors I've been looking for for sometime now. Nature Republic's Pink: FRD 303 and white FWH001. Both shimmering, both very rich colors. The pink is just so beautifully sweet and sassy at the same time, just the pink I've been searching so long for, and the white is perfect for a glossy French Manicure! It is a thick rich shimmering white, like 2 times stronger than the Elianto's one. yum! Best of all, it's 50% of now for both! So I got both of them for only RM15.90. How much more awesome can they get. :D~

And I totally forgot about the Revlon Color Stay review!

All I can say is, I LOVE this foundation. It's rich, it has awesome coverage and it can make skin as er "contoured" T__T as mine look (almost) flawless! Especially in pictures! muahahahaahaa. It also lives up to it's ColorStay name cos it really stays like for a long time. I even wore it to the beach and got into the water and out, it still stayed!! (at least I think it did cos my face didn't look blemished after I got outta the sea water). Yeah, but every normal day, you can expect it to stay till you get off work or till the late evenings.

However, I won't use it everyday because it is quite thick and won't wanna suffocate my skin too much. Still sticking to Blemish Balms aka BB creams. ;)

Kota Kinabalu Trip 2010: Shopping

It's been a while. I guess I've been too busy with nothing in particular causing me to neglect things that are actually something in particular. If that made any sense. swt.

Well, actually since the holidays started I've been hopping on and off planes and buses traveling up and down Borneo Island. Muahaha I just made myself sound so touristy but actually I've only been to Kota Kinabalu, Miri and Sibu >_<. Visited a few relatives and friends and now before the 2nd month of the hols, I am broke. T_____T I should seriously plan and budget properly before saying yes to every trip that I am invited to. Maybe that should be my new half a year's resolution.

Okay, to the overdue topic. In KK, like the rest of East Malaysia, there are not many really major high-end brands or large boutiques like Forever 21, Top Shop or Cotton-on in the shopping malls yet, therefore, variety wise, nah, can't shop for much clothes here.

Buttt, what KK has that Kuching does not have is SaSa. It's like a Watson only mainly concentrating on skin care and cosmetic products. So, there are many types of cosmetic products to choose from that you can't get in departmental stores and drug stores. Which also means, lotsa Japanese products :D. Bought a couple of things in SaSa worth more than RM100 sobs but some were pretty useful.

One of them is this cool Eyebrow pencil called, CYBER COLORS Easy Slide Eyebrow Pen. It not only looks pretty on the outside, it also draws pretty neat brows!

On one tip you get the slide out crayon like thing to draw your eyebrow. The color comes out smoothly so a few strokes are enough, and it lasts a whole day on my brows! love!
On the other tip, there's an eyebrow brush, which is oh so awesomely 2 in 1. After drawing your brow you can comb your natural brow hair with the drawing and make it look all natural. Then, under the brush, you can screw out the sharpener! which sharpens the crayon of course! And there you have it, a 3 in one eyebrow fix. It's like my best eyebrow buy ever.

The lines that come out are really rich, neat and easy to control. Love this much more than powder eyebrow pens! It costs around RM40 I thinkkkk, I really forgot, I'm sorry, but it's so worth it because it comes with a refill! What an absolutely satisfying buy. The eyebrow pen comes in three colors, brown, dark brown and grey which are all very pretty. I bought dark brown because it goes with my hair.

The other products I bought are not so major, but still useful. One of them is this, Biore UV Perfect Face Milk, which is sunblock with SPF 50! :D

Skin care consultants always tell me it's crucial to protect your skin from the sun, especially the face, but I have always been too cheap to get a proper sunblock for the face haha. But since we were going to the islands at KK, and would be under the scorching sun for like the whole day, I decided, maybeee it would be good to prevent the face from sunburn.

So, when we were just about to leave SaSa, I spotted this Biore product with the wrapping which says "No.1 best selling sunblock in Japan!". I was like, okaayy, I've seen something like that before on the Hada Labo Moisturizing Lotion's (which is a moisturizing toner) packaging before saying "sold every 4 seconds in Japan!". What is it with using 'Japan'? But oh wells, they dare to claim, so it should have some level of quality. Hada Labo was pretty good, face never peeled after using that moisturizing toner, no complains. and as for this Biore sunblock, no complains either because I didn't get sunburned throughout Manukan. muahaha. Infact, my face and my entire body wasn't seriously tanned at all! muahahahahaha SPF 50 really works!

Oh oh, forgot about the texture... The Biore UV Perfect Face Milk comes out as this smooth white watery like liquid. It's really light, and when applied on the face, it gives a smooth, light powdery layer. It's like the Kate Makeup base I've used before, only lighter and has extra high UV protection ;D. So yeah, it's a pretty good sunblock/makeup base to me. Still use it on random hot sunny days. :)

And the other product I got was this double eye lid glue. Damn it works wonders and got my eyes looking so-not-droopy!!! :D , and made makeup look more natural because I didn't have to use a thick eyeliner layer for my single eyelids anymore. However, the downside is that, it tugs on the eyelids, so after washing it off, eyelids may seem slightly pinkish and swollen. :\ So maybe I won't recommend one to use it everyday.

Viva Glam

Got myself the Viva Glam Gaga and Viva Glam Cyndi last week. And I am totally loving them! Look at the packaging, it's toootally cool, with their signatures one em ❤!!!

One lipstick costs RM63. I bought both shades but didn't feel totally guilty :p Why? Because, It's like for a good cause ya know >_<.

What good cause? "Every cent of the selling price of VIVA GLAM Lipstick and Lipglass is donated to the M·A·C AIDS Fund to support men, women, and children living with HIV and AIDS." More information can be found at M.A.C's website. Therefore girls, don't feel too guilty getting these. It's like, you did something good, and get something absolutely gorgeous in return :p 

The Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper lipstick only lasts for 12 months, so, don't be waiting too long ;)

Neway, lets focus on the packaging. Like all of M.A.C's limited edition stuff, their packaging are different in someways. The Viva Glam collection's ring is red instead of silver.

On both sides are the Viva Glam version and the middle is the normal one.

The most pretty part is under the bullet-shaped casing, There is Lady Gaga's signature on the Viva Glam Gaga packageand Cyndi Lauper's signature on the Viva Glam Cyndi. And both signatures end with a cute symbol of a star and a peace.

Gaga is this light electric Pink colour.

And Cyndi is this bright reddish colour that has a tiny hint of orangey I think.

This is Cyndi's colour.It's a sexy red that I think makes one look more mature. Suitable for work , play, or formal functions.

This is Gaga's colour. It totally brightens up your face. Gives you a young lively feel. Suitable for play or casual. Light colour makeup suits this colour a lot I think. Huge black and smokey eyes too I guess. Can try out Gaga's makeup herself. Oh wait, there are suggested looks for these 2 Viva Glam colours in M.A.C's website as well, here. :D

In conclusion, I love them colours MUCH. Now I have M.A.C's Viva Glam Gaga, Myself and Viva Glam Cyndi. Loving all these colours alot. Oh yeah, they all have a Lustre finish. I think it's the end look, like a crystal like shine or something. ❤!!!!

Eyeshadow Blending Brush and some mono eyelid makeup tips

Recently got this: The Body Shop Eye Shadow Blending Brush. Got The Body Shop again because I had their Powder Brush for some time already and it is pretty good. The brush hair is soft and even and after so many washes, it's still perfect. Very good investment indeed, as Sharon would say :p. Another reason why I chose The Body Shop's brushes is because it's cheaper than those big cosmetic brand's brushes and have erm, similar quality? But probably different technology. Eg, MAC's stippling (which I still couldn't bring myself to get.) T.T

So, since I'm learning more about eye shadow and seeing how important eye shadow is in every look, I got myself the blending brush.

This is how the blending brush's brush tip look like:

What I realised from using a proper brush instead of the tiny brushes and sponge tips that comes free with your eye shadow is that, 

Firstly, the application is way easier. Just a few strokes can cover your entire eye with the eye shadow. 

Secondly, blending is sooooo easy and much more smoother and natural looking. 

Thirdly, it really helps you save your product. I realised that when I use the tiny brush, I'm like constantly rubbing my eye shadow colour out to make sure enough is on the brush. But with a proper eye shadow brush, a stroke or a few dabs is enough. 

So, I definitely recommend you girls out there to get an eye shadow brush, preferably, the blending brush :D

Next, some knowledge I shall share for  girls who have mono/ single eye lids out there, from my humble makeup experimenting experiences. 

So yeah, some of us Asians have, well, smaller, flatter and rather sleepy looking eyes. But, simple makeup can really do wonders :D You just gotta keep experimenting.

As you can see, I have true mono lids. No double line above my eye. It isn't a bad thing, but it does make me look sleepy and bored most of the time, says some of my friends when I was younger haha. My last Indonesian maid liked it though, said it was special.

Anyway, see how much difference one can make with just a few simple makeup steps.

Firstly, eyeshadow. Mono eyelids tend to happen to most people with buldging eyes, therefore, to make the eyes look a little bit deeper, highlight the brow bone, and darken the lid. Blend well. Not much elaboration  on eye shadow cos Youtube is full of it. The picture doesn't really show my eye shadow because it was bright and also because I only applied a thin layer.

Next, eye liner is the SAVIOUR. You can shape your eye to anything you like it to be! Even if one side is bigger than the other. Haha. Just takes practice. For mono lids, we gotta apply a really thick layer of eyeliner. As in, approximately 0.5cm from lash line. Then, only when you open your eyes, will you see your black liner. However, DO NOT line your lower lash with black liner all the way. It will look WEIRD. Because your upper eye is already thin, having an equal thickness on the lower of your eye just looks wrong. ONLY line the bottom outter corner of the eye. That would be enough to open the eye.

Finally, mascara. Mascara always help open up your eyes. If you have droopy lashes like mine, a few clips with the lash curler and some strong mascara will def help. Lower lash can be mascara-ed too. I'm using Majolica Majorca mascara because it can last like the entire day without getting smudged or drop or anything. Neat stuff!

And if you're aiming for extra brightness and larger eyes, fake lashes are the BOMB! They not only enhance your mascara and eyeliner, they also give you, DOUBLE EYE LIDS! Kinda serves the same function as the double-eyelid tape. I usually stick my fake lashes around 0.2 or 0.3cm higher up from my lash line because the lid is gonna fold in anyway. The higher it is, the larger the fold, hence, double lids!

Eyeliners for the mono eyelid & stuff

Okay, so I have a weakness for all things pretty, including stuff that can make one look prettIER.

So today's topic would be about some eyeliners I have, and my experiences using them. :D

Disclaimer: My experience with the following liners may be different from other people and opinions may differ too. 

I have single eyelids. My single eyelids tend to fold into the eye instead of outside so it is easy to smudge liners if I don't use good ones. And my face gets kind of oily after half a day so double the probability of smudging.

Ok, lets get started.

MAC Crayon Liner in black. But on it writes, "GRAPHBLACK TECHNAKOHL LINER EYE-LINER KAJAL..." (whatever that means) on the pencil. Made in Germany :D Costs around RM65.

Anyway, this liner gives extremely smooth application. The line is really black, thick and easy to control. 

However, it ain't water proof. T.T This was the first branded eyeliner I bought in my entire life. I was 18 then I think, 2007. Bought from the MAC store in Pavilion KL with Sharon. I asked the sales person if it was water proof and she said it was. 

Then being the innocent clueless little me, I used it on New Years eve and went to Sungei Wang to join KL for the celebration. The environment was VERY crowded. It was drizzling a little, and youngsters were spraying foam at EVERYBODY. 

So at the end of the day, my face was wet, sweaty and SMUDGED.

Yeap, the eyeliner was all over my eyebags making me look like a.. a... nevermind.

So, This liner is awesome if (1.) You're gonna be in an aircond room all day (2.) You'll be heading home early (because if you go out for too long, and oil starts appearing on your face, it'll still smudge). (3.) you want a softer look on your eyes (cos liquid liner cant do wad pencil and crayon ones do).

Next, Bobbi Brown Pencil Liner in black. Bought around the same time I got the MAC one when I was in KL. I have no idea why I needed 2 similar types of liner then. swt. This costs around RM65, similar to the MAC one.

To me, the liner isn't very black, but a few more layers would do. the edges of each line is usually very rough, so I use the other tip of the pencil, which is something like a smudge sponge tip or something, to smoothen the edges. I like that tip cos it's awesome for blending. Oh, the pencil smudges quite easily.

So, I use this eyeliner more as a dark eyeshadow, apart from lining the lower corner of my eyes with it. So yeah, I love use it more often than my MAC one.

KATE super sharp liner. This is a liquid eyeliner. Most prolly from Japan cos it's under KANEBO.

This is my favourite eyeliner I tell ya! It's really sharp so lines are so easy to shape. And it's soft so it doesn't give you rough edges. And I think it's quite waterproof because I can wear it all day and it doesn't go all over my eyes. Angeline used to use this and rub her eyes often and it doesn't smudge at all! Awesome ehy? It's cheap too! like around RM30!

So I kind of recommended this liner to all my girl friends. Though, one of my friend didn't like it. She said it wasn't black enough, and it tends to wear out after half a day, like, it's not black black anymore. 

My solution to this is to just add another layer if it isn't black enough. :D

Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner. This was recommended by Xian. She said her makeup artist friend recommended it to her and so she convinced me that it is really good. So, I tried a bottle. It's so small and cute right heh. Oh ya!! Michelle Phan used this gel liner in one of her makeup tutorials too! I think it's the one with two lines on the eye. :D

Well, this is like the first gel liner I've used and I find it very easy to use. The colour comes out rich and smooth. The lines are easy to draw depending on what type of brush you use. The brush provided is alright for me. :D The only downside is that I gotta wash the brush every 2 days because after the gel dries, the brush becomes stiff causing it to be more like a stick wtf. Oh, and also it isn't really practical to carry a bottle and a brush out to do touch-ups.

The Gel liner lasts quite long, I tried it when I went swimmng in a pool! lol. It did stay but after some time, when my skin got oily and mixed with the pool water, it smudged baaadd~~~

But overall this liner is good I guess :) Also less than RM40 I think.

Finally, REVLON Colour Stay pen liner. REVLON Colour Stay products had some pretty good reviews especially with it's liquid foundation. It was known to give good coverage and last pretty long. However,I did not enjoy using the pen liner. 

The colour is very black which is good. The bad part to me is the pen's tip. It is hard just like a marker pen (or maybe a bit harder).So when I draw a line on my eye, it rubs against my lids really rough, making it rather uncomfortable. And, the edges aren't smooth at all, it's like drawing on cloth with your marker pen, the cloth tends to crumble when the hardness of your pen rubs on it right? Exactly the same on my eyelid T.T

So overall, I like the KATE liquid liner the most. It's smooth, practical and lasting. :D

Since I'm already talking bout beauty stuff, lemme share with you this simple cute accessory!

This my girls is something like a hair holder. Lol. I only found out about this last year >_<. Some of  you may have already been using this for a long time.. I dunno >_<. But it's a great hair holder thing. It clings on your hair better than a hair clip. I use it when I bath, wash my face and also apply makeup :D The bestest thing of all is that it doesn't leave a dent or mess up my hair when I use it.

For ya to see in detail. Agnes was the one who was using it which sparked my curiosity to ask her about it. Then when she went to Hong Kong she helped me get a pair :D 2  in one pack :)) comes in different colours. But I preffered black.

Now I recently saw that ZeSan bought it from Boulevard, so, whatcha waiting for girls, useful stuff!

Oh, heard it's pretty trendy in Taiwan and Japan too! lol~

Lastly is this cute pack which Agnes gave me. It's a hand-warmer! loL! so cute. Though, I haven't used it yet... Don't really need it in Swinburne this semester cos it isn't that cold haha. I kinda forgot the instructions already and the packaging is no help because

It's all in Japanese. Nevermind, will ask Aggy again when I see her. haha.

Noticed I've been updating again? Well, it's because I finally have time, like, seriously. First week, I was occupied with Glee. Then this week, Monday and Tuesday was pretty tiring. And now that I am done with Glee, I have time for washing my clothes, doing facial treatments, nails, and other useful things again :D

Hope no one gives me a bunch of series again before my finals >_<. OMG, heard Gossip Girl continued already! *gasp*

Random Vanity stuff

Recently bought this mascara from Majolica Majorca. It was recommended by quite a number of girls I know and also magazines. So I thought I'd try one. Watson in the Spring now sells this brand of cosmetics (like finally)!

I bought the BK999. This is the brush type:

I use the wider spacing part to apply the mascara and the smaller spacing brush to comb the lashes.

I found that it's easy to comb, very smooth application. It stays liquidy for a while and takes a bit time to dry, so don't blink too hard after application. It doesn't lump into annoying little lumps on your lashes so I guess it's pretty good.
Oh, and it stays and doesnt fall onto your eyebags. This is really important for me because, after sometime, my skin gets kind of oily, and I don't know why, but mascara likes to fall under my eyebags.. I think this has something to do with my oily skin and single eye lids. Hrm!~ Maybelline does that alot to me! So I don't use Maybelline mascaras anymore. Kate was so so, still drops. But I'm liking this Majolica Majorca one now. Go try it out if you're looking for a good mascara :D

I really like it's packaging too. Pretty!


Oh and I am so glad I found this again!!!:

It's called Cleansing Express Sebum. It's really good and removes all my makeup! Even waterproof ones! It's not oily, feels like water, but works like magic. Best of all, it's cheap! :D only like RM30+? I found this at Watson in BDC Everise recently. I used to buy it at Sarawak Plaza's but they haven't stock this up for some time already. Don't know about now though.

More about it is, it's from Japan. Great for late nights when you're too lazy to wash your face but want to remove your makeup. All you need is to dab the Cleaning Express Sebum on a cotton wool, wipe off all your makeup and you can go straight to bed. Washing is not neccessary, though it's still better to do so, but, awesome right?!
