Jangkar waterfall

Jangkar waterfall, is the first waterfall that I actually went to to have a picnic and swim at. And I must say, what an experience it was! So smart of me to pick the largest waterfall in Southern Sarawak (according to The Star 2010) lol. Came back with cuts and bruises and muscle pains all over.

The road to the place was a freakishly long and rocky one! About 2 hours plus from Kuching city? And you really need good directions.


The hike was torturing. It was raining, the terrain was tough, there were lots of parts where we needed a hand, and once, a back to step on, to get through. We stepped into water, mud and rocks of all colors BAREFOOT! But all that was so worth it, when you get to see such beauty. Takes your breath away :)

There were two paths up the mountain. One was the watery path, and one was the jungle track. We picked the watery path to climb. And boy, was that not only torturing, but pretty dangerous too. Most of our injuries were from the slippery rocks and the current of the rapid flowing waters. 

The guys had to hold hands to form a snake to support each one of us at some steep climbs. Damn hard. Managed to take pics at some of the hard parts

After like, a really really long hike, we finally got there...

Breathtaking

The water was FREEZING cold. This was the first waterfall.

We decided to go all the way up to where the water starts flowing down.. Hence, we reached, the second waterfall! It was scary.

*gulp*

There was another shallower pool at the 2nd level. It was really beautiful. Like, heaven on earth lol.

The guys were the first to go in deeper to find the 2nd level waterfall.

True natural mineral water. Had a few sips. Fawesome!

You can spot a few of our friends who are still down at the 1st waterfall on the lower right. *legs soften*

See how strong the current was T_T so hard to get through the water, twisted my ankle slightly when I slipped at the rocks with the water rushing at my feet. Climbing rocks is the better way of getting up than walking through the water.

And there we are, the 2nd waterfall. Which was even more beautiful, only shorter. heart heart! The tour guide showed us that we are able to go behind the waterfall, there's a small cave at the back. But the current was too strong so only Jon made it behind. I didn't even dare to try. Haha.. doubt my swimming skills.

The trip was amazing. There are altogether 7 waterfalls but we were to tired and only made it to 2. However, the adventure didn't stop there. 

On the way back, our dear friend, whose Danger is his middle name, had to do a stunt lol. Which got us into this mess:

LMAO.

When we finally got out of it, we only had 2 bars of fuel left, almost 2 hours of road to cover, and empty stomachs since 9am. HAHA. Got to Lundu to pump fuel, got an ice cream, and drove on a pitch black road for 80+ kilometers to Kuching.

Very eventful indeed.  I wouldn't mind to go on another trip like this, but maybe not the same waterfall anymore haha. It was amazing but torturing at the same time. But as always, thinking back, it's always another awesome experience.

Oh yeah, must credit my iPhone 4 for taking all the pictures above. Not bad for a 5 mega pixel camera phone. Had it in a waterproof casing which i was so lucky I brought! If not, my phone would never have survived the trip! So won't these awesome pictures. If you're interested in the iPhone waterproof casing, you may leave a comment as I have supplies, haha.
